Honest version: I built this to help you chase happy hours around Tampa Bay. I collect as little as I can, and I don’t sell anything about you.
What this product is
A map and list of venues with happy hours and deals I (and the community) keep tabs on, plus a Tonight page and an optional phone app. Tips and deal corrections come by email. Partner spots are labeled “Partner · sponsored” when a venue is in a paid trial — that label is about the venue, not about you.
Anonymous first-party counts (website & app)
When you open a venue, tap Directions, or tap Call, the site or app may send a tiny count to our own server at /api/track. That request includes only:
- venue — the venue’s public id (for example
cheeky-s-st-petersburg) - event — one of
detail_view,directions_google,directions_apple, orcall - src — where the visit came from (for example
ig_story,ig_bio,ig_post,ig_collab,email,app, ordirect)
On the app, that src value is always app. The body is still only the venue id, the event type, and src=app. No device IDs, no advertising IDs, no location, and no third-party trackers are included.
These are anonymous daily tallies so I can see which spots people actually open. They are not tied to a person, account, or cookie.
- No cookies for this tracking
- No user IDs, login, or fingerprinting
- We do not store your IP address or user-agent for these counts
- If your browser sends Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC), the website skips sending these counts
Favorites (on your device only)
If you save a venue (☆ / ★), that list stays in your browser’s localStorage or the app’s AsyncStorage. It never leaves your device. Clearing site data or uninstalling the app clears it.
Location (on your device only)
The “Near me” filter (and related map features) can use your device’s location to sort or filter venues. That location is read on the device and never sent to our servers. You can deny permission and still browse the map and lists.
Notifications (app, optional)
If you opt in to “Happy hour near me” in the app:
- We ask the OS for notification permission.
- We may store an Expo push token on our server (Cloudflare KV, key prefix
push:) so we can send a push later. The stored record is the token itself — no name, email, phone, device ID, advertising ID, or location is stored with it. - v1 behavior also schedules local reminders on your phone for happy hours at venues you’ve saved. Those schedules live on the device.
- Turning the switch off unregisters the token (we delete the
push:entry) and cancels local schedules.
We do not sell push tokens. We are not wiring third-party ad or analytics SDKs into notifications.
What we don’t do
- No ads in the product
- No third-party analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Mixpanel, etc.)
- No selling or renting personal data — we aren’t collecting profiles to sell
- No accounts or passwords on the site or in the app today
Hosting & Instagram
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Opening Instagram links (including “Follow @stpete_foodandwine”) leaves our site and is covered by Instagram’s own policies. Photos in the app and site are served from stpetefoodandwine.com, not hotlinked from Instagram’s CDN.
Email tips
If you tip a deal or report something off via email, that message goes to my inbox like any normal email. Use that only if you’re okay with me reading what you send.
Kids
This isn’t aimed at children under 13. Don’t use it if that’s you.
Changes
If how we handle data changes in a real way, I’ll update this page and the date above.
